Immunizations, also called vaccinations, can protect you and your child against dangerous diseases.

Many of the vaccines that are licensed for use in Canada are paid for by the government in Ontario, so there is no cost to receive these vaccines. They are available from your healthcare provider or at a Health Unit clinic.

The Ministry of Health encourages immunizations for the following groups:

• infants/toddlers requiring their 2 month through to 18 month vaccines (Delayed or missed immunizations put children at risk for common and serious childhood infections, such as pneumococcal disease, measles, and pertussis.)
• previously unimmunized individuals
• health care workers

If you have a healthcare provider, call their office to discuss and arrange immunizations through their clinics.
